Q: I love the fact that when I fill out forms on the internet, my Mac just pops in the information. However, since I moved, most of the time it fills in my old address, phone, etc. which I have to erase. Every once in awhile, it fills in my new info. How do I get rid of the old data?
A: This will differ a little bit depending on which browser you’re using.
Safari actually pulls this information from your Address Book (clever as that is), so the first thing you’ll want to check is whether you’ve updated your address in Address Book (and deleted the old one - Address book will save more than one address per person, so you’ll want to make sure the old one is gone as well).
If that still doesn’t solve your problem, you can go through and selectively delete some of the Auto-Fill data. Open File→Preferences, and select the “AutoFill” tab. Here you can select which types of forms are saved in AutoFill, and you can edit the information that’s saved in the forms for any website. First, check to make sure that “Using info from my Address Book card” is checked.

Next, by clicking “Edit…” next to one of these types of data, you will bring up a list of websites that have saved AutoFill data, and you can select to delete the data only from specific sites. This will work for all of your AutoFill data, not just your address!
FireFox is a little different. If you have your cursor in a field within a form, you can press the down arrow key to bring up a list of the data that is saved for a particular field. You can navigate through this list using the Up and Down arrows. Once the one you’d like to get rid of is highlighted, you can press Shift+Delete, and it will automatically disappear from the list!
I haven’t done much research on other OS X browsers - if you use one that you don’t see here, leave a comment below and I’ll try to find out how to deal with AutoFill in those browsers as well!
